Berlin Airlift Series 5

FLY HISTORY WITH THE DC3 AIRWAYS MP DIVISION

On (date), the 5th series of the Berlin airlift will commence at 19.00GMT (13.00 EST). This series of 4 Saturday multiplayer sessions will follow the chronology of the 1948/49 Berlin airlift, following the same approach procedures and the same routes used to supply the population of Western Berlin following the imposition of the Soviet blockade in June 1948.

A total of 19 airfields will be used, sometimes in fog or thunderstorms, sometimes at night. In sessions involving perhaps 20+ pilots we will adhere as far as possible to the conditions and events of that period.

Much of the scenery that is now available creates new airfields in near photographic quality, such as EDUG Gatow and airfields in other cases are realistically rendered both in terms of buildings and runways/aprons/taxiways. Fsrecorder files and aircraft are provided for playback as Ai traffic that are authentic types that will add traffic to your simulation program [even in mulltiplayer] and thereby surround you with the sights that greeted the pilots of the time as they approached Berlin, with aircraft landing every minute somewhere in Berlin. For those of you who participated before, the challenge is the same. For those of you new to DC3 Airways and multiplayer in particular ... welcome ... you will experience flight simming to a new level in this series both as regards traffic, approaches and weather. It is also a means to commemorate the events and the dedication of all those involved in keeping Berlin free in the troubled times post WWII.

A recap of the order to have things installed in FS9.

Starting from the bottom i.e. with the highest number

  1. All the stock items ending with the item 'propeller objects'
  2. Any landclass [LC] or sea class [SC] items
  3. Any mesh terrain such as FSGlobal
  4. Any texture items such as megascenery, tile proxy etc.
  5. Addon airfield
  6. Addon scenery folder [addonscenery/scenery]

Fassberg and Oberphaffenhofen requires you to activate both a Landclass folder and an airfield scenery. Make sure you get the priorities right [i.e. they are not next to each other in the scenery library, the Landclass item is moved towards the bottom]
