Ard - I see you are using MSFS 2020, as I do as well.  Are you using the Duckworks mod with your DC-3 or just the default plane?

Thanks Francois, so it is not my plane only that could not climb steep enough :)

Yeah, once you know the distance to the Mountain top is too short, it is better to start the climb earlier. However  I discovered it too late and than your trick does not work anymore ;)

Hi Dave, yes I do fly with MSFS2020.
I do fly the Standard Douglas DC3 . I tried to install the Duckwork add-on but it did not work. I do however use an add-on (FLightsim.to website) made for the DC4 to control a kind of Autopilot action; it works actually also very fine for the Standard DC3 Classic and is easier to use than the Sperry AP. .

FL08 HBBA - HRZA, 219 Nm
Route HBBA RG DO KNM GOM BKV ESRIT HRZA , flying time 01:16
This flight looks a little like a jojo, with several alternating altitudes. The distances are large enough to make standard climbs and descents to comply with the prescribed altitudes.
The Hills en-route are high, but not that steep such we see a lot of fields in between. The last part we flew over Lake Kivu, which at an elevation of 4790 ft is a high elevation lake.

this flight has not much interesting sceneries, but still have one image.

just after DO passing Lake Cohoha, right in front Lake Rweru

Note: in my version of LNM the elevation of HRZA is 5211 ft, while in the image given by WT2026 , it is shown as 4891 ft. Probably another sim, but the elevation of the airport should not change that much?

I'm sure almost any autopilot mod would be easier to use than the Sperry.   ;D

The reason I mentioned the Duckworks mod is that it makes the supercharger shift levers operable, which makes it much easier to reach higher altitudes.
