Had to climb to 10,500 feet instead of 6,500 to get over this guy.  MS/AH DC-3 with Duckworks mod in FS 2020.  Classic version (just VOR and ADF, no GPS)

Yep that is indeed the required altitude to fly over the top, however (ref route Mt. Ruapehy) the course actually does not run over the top but around the mountain and over its flanks.
Keep the Blue above :)

The Course Description PDF just says fly 193 degrees from Rotorua to Mount Ruapehu and overfly.

I did enjoy flying the WT2026-FL03, trust/hope you did as well. :)

I left Tokyo about 05:30 local time so that I could catch the first rays of the sun hitting the peak of Mt Fuji as I did the overfly.  I was quite pleased with the results.

Nice one David, especially the first one.

Approaching Aconcagua.  The highest peak in South America - when measured from Mean Sea Level.  Not even in the top 20 if measured from the Center of the Earth.

I was surprised how easily the old bird got to 24000 feet.  Maybe because when I flew the Hump routes and struggled to get to 16000 I was overloaded with fuel and cargo.

it is amazing how the early sunshine can make scenes that beautiful   :)

Flight 10 sunset flight through Alpine valleys.  A fitting end to the World Tour.

Another great shot, David.

Thank you Roy, and thanks to DC-3 Airways for organizing this.

Ard-WT

great shot.
and now I see that the advantage of flying at sunset is that the lights in the valley guide you to the airport.
