General Discussion / Acceptable Aircraft to Partici...
Last post by WT-Alan - Sep 21, 2025, 05:15 AM
Hello!

I know someone who wishes to participate in the World Tour, and he is wondering if he can use a
C-117 Aircraft (Super DC-3). Is this acceptable?

Thanks!

Alan (WT 008)  :)

Roy: Thank you for the info. We couldn't wait, as Nancy had stirred up a hornet's nest in the local watering hole, and we had to get outta there most riki tik.

The flight went well. Nobody died. The engines on our C-47 had to work pretty hard to get to a safe altitude, despite our attempt to pick our way through at low spots.

General Discussion / Flight 01 - ZWTK and VITE don'...

Guys: Our Flight 01 departure airport, Tashikuergan Hongqilafu (ZWTK), doesn't exist in my version of P3D v5.

One workaround is to create a user waypoint at the dusty-looking airstrip at 37° 39.67' N 75° 17.32' E, elevation 10,741 feet, that you can see with Google Earth. My C-47 is sitting there right now. There's no runway or airport anywhere nearby, but the terrain looks smooth, and I believe that Ernie and I will be able to get her off the ground.

Our destination airport, Thoise (VITE) is shown in SkyVector as VI57.

The flight plan shown in our briefing is a straight line, aka "direct boogie", between the departure and destination. We're planning to fly though canyons and such to minimize altitude. Still, we'll have to get up to 20,000 MSL in a few places. Will have to check my Accu-Feel add-on to see if hypoxia is modeled.

Hey, what's the worst that can happen?

Brushing up my DC3 handling by retracing route 'Able' of the infamous WW2 'Hump' airlift from India to China- changeable weather, heavy payloads, extremely high mountain passes and some very careful navigation...

Welcome to the World Tour forum. We hope and trust you will enjoy yourselves with the presented flights.
For questions, ideas and remarks, this is the right place. Before each flight have a look on the NOTAM part of the forum. There may be some extra instructions or information regarding a flight.
Roy,
