Welcome to the DC-4 Flights webpage. Here you will find a growing
collection of flights specifically suited for or historically flown by the
DC-4. This will be similar to the Regional Airlines webpage for the DC-3: An
airline can earn its logo here with as few as a dozen flights.
We solicit your contribution of DC-4 flights from throughout the world.
Normally, any route 225 NM in length or greater from an existing DC-3
Airways schedule is eligible for PIREP credit. But note in Jim Daigneau's
1946 Delta Air Lines schedule below that the Skymaster flew legs as short as
27 NM. So, if it's in a timetable and was flown by a DC-4, route length is
not an issue.
See the BOAC routes page for a full description of these wonderful DC-3 and DC-4 routes by George Blundell-Pound, DCA-1541.
In 1946, Delta Air Lines added eight DC-4s to its fleet, their first four-engined
aircraft. Their DC-4 routes extended from Chicago to Miami and Fort Worth,
Texas to Columbia, S.C. with leg lengths of 27 to 530 NM. The download
includes timetables with route maps, an overview of Delta's history with the
DC-4, flight descriptions, fsn and MS PLN flight plans, John Achor's DC-4
Technical Manual and Checklists, and much more.
